In 2016, there may not be transformative technological innovations in the touch field, and the overall promotion of existing innovations in the industry will be slightly slower.
Take Heraeus as an example. The company will develop in three major directions in 2016, the most important of which is to expand the application of Clevios conductive electrodes in the market. In 2015, Heraeus's organizational structure was adjusted from the typical "centralized" management that once helped to develop a new technology platform in the central R & D center to the "decentralized" management of applied technology and technical services near the customer's production base.
The second task is to introduce the new Hybrid electrode material, a unique mixture of Cambrios silver nanowires and Clevios PEDOT conductive polymer, suitable for various large-size touch screen applications such as tablets and "all-in-one" devices. Compared with the prior art, the related thin film products have better optical performance and can achieve higher yield in the sensor manufacturing process.
The third important thing is to expand the company's transparent electrode technology to the field of flexible touch screen. Clevios PEDOT conductive polymer is one of the most mature technologies for flexible touch screen products, and it is the only technology that is ideal for folding sensors with excellent cost performance. The company worked with the Taiwan Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) to successfully develop flexible displays.
Today, the company is working closely with a large Korean TSP manufacturer to launch a foldable touch sensor product that can be put into mass production immediately, and it is expected that several sensor or touch screen manufacturers will join this cooperation project to jointly develop this emerging technology.
